Your quote touched a chord in me today! Sadly my story is about someone who feels NOONE cares and has kept the world at arm's length. Let me explain.
My husband & I mentor at-risk children. One day I told the program director how sad I was that our little friend's grandmother shut us out of her life completely. He expalined she puts up a wall, a "tough veneer," because SHE feels unlovable! Sadly, her fear of rejection has caused her to live a very lonely existence. Like your quote says, she is testing people but is convinced she knows the outcome.
I learned such an important Life Lesson from that experience. When someone hurts you it's about THEM... not you!
So glad you stopped by my blog, I'll be back! - vicki xo
